About Sam Lander Capocyan

I'm a graduate student in Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, specializing in Neuroengineering. My academic journey has provided me with a robust engineering foundation and a deep interest in harnessing artificial intelligence to drive innovation in healthcare. I'm particularly fascinated by the convergence of machine learning, computer vision, and biomedical engineering. In my role as a Graduate Research Assistant in Dr. Ji Yi's lab at Johns Hopkins, I've focused on designing deep learning models for retinal ganglion cell classification from microscopy images, a critical area with far-reaching implications for early disease detection. In addition, I've led efforts to optimize LED array reflectance microscopes for high-quality cellular imaging and mastered the art of preprocessing complex cellular images. My undergraduate years were equally enriching, marked by the publication of two research papers and extensive experimentation aimed at enhancing focused ultrasound for the treatment of neurological disorders. My technical skill set spans Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, R, MATLAB, and C++, complemented by optical system design, data analysis, and scientific writing.
