About Sam Marder

From pop rock to the silicon dock’ At 13 I got my ‘first real six-string’ and ‘played it ‘til my fingers bled; was the summer of 99’. Supercharged by a mythical feeling that my story wrote me as a rock star, ‘me and some guys from school, had a band and we tried real hard’. And I am proud to say I garnered some genuine success in a tremendously tough music industry, by way of my innate and unshakeable drive to achieve my goals. I signed a major record deal with Disney’s Hollywood Records in 2009, toured the USA, worked closely with many music industry legends and then later in Ireland had an album go triple-platinum. However, in my late 20s, the once musical myth that propelled me morphed and shifted direction. It wasn’t just that ‘Jimmy quit and Jody got married’; I was ready for an entirely new chapter. There was a new myth about my life. ‘I knew that it was now or never’ and making the boldest move of my life, I left the ‘band me’ behind and jumped straight into the deep end, enrolling on a BSc and starting my first job in tech. This was an enormous change and I couldn’t be more proud to say, I was able to successfully adapt and thrive in my new environment. Today, I am a people manager on Meta's Regulatory Risk Management Team, helping my team to keep a steady tempo through crises, rock cross-functional partnerships and keep our community safe. I continue to rise to the new challenges the ‘new me’ faces, through the innate drive to achieve that has always been with me throughout my story. I have also completed a master's in Human Resource Management. I help my team crush its targets and Meta fulfil its mission, through implementing creative solutions, maintaining optimism through adversity and bringing a sense of story and meaning to my role at Meta.
