About Sam McDougall

Sam McDougall is a Tax LLM candidate at Georgetown University Law Center and a recent JD graduate, with honors, from Stetson University College of Law. While at Stetson, he served on both the Stetson Law Review and Stetson Business Law Review, and competed as a member of the Dispute Resolution Board, earning multiple victories in international arbitration and negotiation competitions. Sam passed the New York Bar in July 2024 and is currently pending admission to both New York and Washington, D.C. At Georgetown, he has focused on transactional tax law, excelling in coursework such as partnerships, corporate tax, and inbound and outbound international planning. He has also gained hands-on experience through externships in tax and international dispute resolution. Before law school, Sam lived and worked abroad—teaching in Thailand and spending extended time in both France and Japan. These experiences sparked his interest in international legal systems and continue to inform his perspective on cross-border transactions and global tax policy. Sam’s interests lie at the intersection of acquisitions and dispositions, international tax, and global dispute resolution. He is eager to connect with professionals across legal and tax practice areas to exchange ideas and explore opportunities for collaboration.
