About Sam McGrath

I graduated from Iowa State University in May 2024 with a bachelor's degree in computer science. During my time at Iowa State, I was elected as a residence hall president, competed in three hackathons/coding competitions, won a state competition for the CFA Research Challenge, and was selected as a freshman member of the ISU Wall Street Club. I also attended events hosted by the Computer Science Club, captained an intramural softball team, and participated in intramural basketball and volleyball. While I prioritized academics, I enjoyed staying involved in extracurricular activities. Throughout my college years, I gained valuable industry experience through internships. At Principal Financial Group, I worked on their Employer Webpage and helped design and create a new employee census processing page, learning ReactJS and agile development principles. At Caterpillar, I was a Corporate IT intern and gained a deep understanding of how IT functions within a global enterprise, from identifying and patching vulnerabilities to secure business operations to provisioning cloud and on-premises resources to factory floor and workforce users. Now, as a full-time IT Analyst at Caterpillar, I continue leveraging my technical skills and problem-solving mindset to drive innovation and efficiency in procurement operations. I’m always looking for ways to enhance systems, improve data accuracy, and deliver impactful solutions.
