About Sam Mitchell
I believe that every one of our students, no matter their study, is on one of the greatest adventures in life: the quest for knowledge. I have a role in the planning and execution of digital, print and social media campaigns that serve as a guide for prospective "Peacocks" on their enrollment journey to Higher Education. With nearly a decade of experience blending creative design with data and people-driven strategy, I work to develop marketing that doesn't just reach our target audience, it resonates with them. My career path has been an unconventional one, even by Millennial standards. With each role I have served over the years, I have continued to gain knowledge and an understanding of how to connect people and speak to their passions, while providing them with opportunities for success. From enforcing fair wages across our nation's military bases to discovering, supporting and nurturing digital creators at Frederator Studios, every experience has given me tools I can continue to utilize in providing accessible pathways to higher education. Outside of campus, I continue to blend my passion for storytelling with community-building through digital creation, cinema and my collective known as Obsidian Brews, a team of Black table-top role players and creators who travel the country speaking on panels and producing live roleplaying games with an emphasis on the professional and creative development of underrepresented members of the community. To those who play table-top know the power of not only telling a really good story, but the creative expression and community that comes with the game. In enrollment, it is important to not only tell the story of our university, but to give students the support they need in making the decision to come to a place of learning, expression and care for the whole person.
