About Sam Nylen

In December 2023 I finished my Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science at the University of Vermont. In my educational journey, I became interested in how power and inequality is connected and reverberates throughout the U.S. and the greater world via my studies in political science. I then began taking classes in Economics which led to my love for using data analysis to provide insight and advice for real-world economic issues at both the micro and macro levels. In my professional career, I have had many opportunities to gain experience and apply the knowledge learned in college. At the Center for Research for Vermont, I worked with other students as a Research Assistant Intern, collecting and analyzing data on the Vermont Housing Market. I later led my own project on the Vermont Cannabis Industry and the intricacies associated with the state's protections for local and sustainable business practices. This experience gave me a real-world application of economic research and further developed my organizational and communication skills. In addition, I was fortunate to work as both a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant for the UVM Department of Political Science.
