About Sam Payne

Sam Payne is the General Manager of BYUradio, The Director of Audio Content for BYU Broadcasting, and host of the long-running podcast and radio show "The Apple Seed," encouraging family storytelling through sharing great stories told by great storytellers. He also hosts "Kaboom," the podcast filled with immersive audio adventures for families. He leads a team of audio professionals in the creation and distribution of original content for the BYUradio podcast network, the BYUradio and Classical 89 terrestrial radio stations, and BYUradio on SiriusXM 143. Sam was part of the Peabody-nominated team that created Treasure Island 2020, the serial podcast based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel, and Sam's writing has been featured in venues from school classrooms (where his readership tops 1 million elementary school students from coast to coast) to the senate floor in Washington D.C. Sam has also written and produced stadium-sized historical celebrations throughout Utah, including Sanctuary: The Story of Zion for the centennial of the National Parks Service, Echoes of Hammers and Spikes (With Suzanne Christensen and Clive Romney) for the sesquicentennial of the completion of the first transcontinental railroad, One of a Million Stars commemorating the 14-year mission of the Mars rover Opportunity, and The Shot Heard Round the World, commemorating the semiquincentennial of Paul Revere's Ride. Sam has also brought his original stories and songs to venues all over the world, from Tokyo to Bulgaria, and from coast to coast in the United States, including the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee, and the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival in Lehi, Utah.
