About Sam Queripel

My 4 years at GHD has given me up to date GIS and droning skills. It has allowed me to capture, compile, migrate and convert data sets for project needs from a variety of internal and external sources. I have also gained experience in: • Evaluating data from various sources to determine the quality and ensure data is clean and accurate • Championing GIS Solutions for both data collection and delivery • Aiding in Emergency response work by providing relevant spatial data as soon as possible for train derailments and environmental hazards. • Drone pilot; capture and process aerial imagery for numerous projects- I have a combined nine years of GIS experience through formal education and professional employment, including working at multiple companies and levels of government such as GHD, the Town of Halton Hills, Environment Canada and the City of Hamilton- At Environment Canada I ran a mapping service, where I was able to create multiple types of maps for different groups within the company. I thoroughly enjoyed working with others to create informative and appealing maps. This has helped with my experience in working with different types of data and representing them in a GIS aspect- My geographic and geomatics undergraduate program has given me extensive experience producing maps with GIS tools such as ArcGIS, geocoding databases, spatial analysis, database design, data mining techniques, and working with Remote Sensing- I have extensive cartographic skills and I am able to maintain, update, manipulate read and create different types of maps. I also have a strong ability to generate and retrieve information and data for GIS projects and tasks- I consider my analytical skills to be quite strong. I am able to utilize experience, judgement and analytical skills to complement data, procedures, design work flows, and finalize products- I love working with GIS data and creating maps. I feel a sense of accomplishment and self-fulfillment when I have created a map that can provide interesting information and look amazing. It is a very exciting industry to be involved in, with new and interesting ways to utilise GIS and spatial data in different aspects of life. Geomatics and GIS is a quickly growing industry, and I am very happy to be involved with it.
