About Sam Rametse

Sam Rametse is the Regional Programmes Manager at the British Council in South Africa, a role which he assumed in November 2022. He is responsible for the design and implementation of Capacity Strengthening Programmes under the International Science Partnership Fund programmes (ISPF) in South Africa, Kenya, and other countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. He also serves an Independent Trustee for the South Deep Education and Community Trust, a role which allows him to provide strategic oversight on Education and Community upliftment programmes within Gold Fields mines in the Westrand of Gauteng. Before his primary role at the British Council, Sam worked at Zenex Foundation where he was responsible for funding evidence-based partnerships in education. Here he worked closely with Government departments and other key stakeholders in the Education Sector. He was part of the National Research Foundation for over 12 years, the last 6 years of which were spent at the Square Kilometre Array Telescope’s Human Capacity Development Programme. Sam is passionate about Science, Education and Innovation and the potential they hold in elevating disadvantaged communities out of poverty and bridging the socio-economic inequality gap. Contributing to sustainable, equitable and scalable evidence based Youth Unemployment initiatives is his career objective. He holds a master’s degree in Applied Mathematics, his topic was focused the modelling of language usage within a school classroom environment.
