About Sam Reza

I'm the Deputy Director for a non-profit organization that uses the arts as a medium to inspire creativity, unlock potential, and transform the lives of students of all ages. We deliver programming to over Central Texas youth year round. When youth develop their creativity, compassion, confidence and critical thinking skills, build meaningful connections with peers and positive role models, they become successful adults who contribute to their communities and thrive in their careers and relationships. I oversee people, culture, processes, technology, internal communication and the infrastructure of our organization. I work diligently to develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with team members, teaching artists, our Executive Director, our Board of Directors and the community. I served on our Social Justice coalition for three years in which we continue our work toward a more anti-racist, anti-oppressive organization through hiring practices, policies, education and breaking down the inherent and systemic systems that contribute to white supremacy. I also completed the Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program through Cornell University and continue to advance not only my education and re-examination of self, but actively work toward creating a more just, liberated, authentic and harmonious work environment. I have worked for numerous non-profits, from preservation and conservation to health and wellness, and fully enjoy being a part of something which makes a difference on a personal, cultural and global level. I have also been part of union organization and was part of the Teamsters union for many years. I believe all people have the right to live with dignity and basic human rights. My colleagues know me as an innovative, progressive and forward thinking creative with an abundance of dedication and energy as well as a wicked sense of humor. I am an exceptionally human-centered, big picture thinker and am always looking for ways to improve systems and develop ideas and strategies to encourage people to look at things differently and authentically. I have a Bachelor of Arts (painting and drawing) from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and spend the majority of my free time drawing, writing and creating.
