About Sam Shaw

As a Mechanical Engineering student at Utah State University, I am passionate about applying my skills and knowledge to create positive social change. I have earned the Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate credential, which demonstrates my proficiency in 3D design and engineering principles. I am currently a Title IX Peer Educator Team Lead at the Office of Equity, where I assist professional staff with leading and mentoring a team of student educators to deliver impactful sexual misconduct prevention training. I also manage attendance records and exemption requests, and ensure clear and effective communication with incoming and continuing students. Additionally, I am an Undergraduate Researcher at the College of Engineering, where I validate and correct interview transcripts, de-identify sensitive information, design recruitment materials and research posters, and develop awareness training programs. My research focuses on empowering student veterans and service members in engineering, and my work has been presented at nationwide conferences. Furthermore, I am a USU 1010 Connections Peer Mentor, where I mentor and guide students as they transition to college. I host weekly meetings, lead both small and large form discussions, and foster interpersonal connections. I have developed strong relationships with students and faculty, and received positive feedback on my teaching and leadership skills.
