About Sam Taylor

Coaching leaders to embody their purpose and potential; facilitating groups through transformative experiences; offering supervision; and training hundreds of new and experienced coaches to ICF Level 2 standard as Head of Training with The Somatic School. This is what energises me and what I love most about my work- About me - As a child I wanted to be a magician. From a young age, the idea of enabling things to transform from one state to another had a real hold over me. This fascination never left, even as I grew into something of a buttoned up, conscientious young adult. Having gained a First with Distinction from the University of Oxford, I wanted to help change the world. I co-founded the international street children charity, the Moroccan Children’s Trust. I then worked in multiple senior leadership posts up to Assistant Director in Local Government and the NHS, each dedicated to redesigning services and change management. However, despite these fulfilling roles, deep down I knew my young enchantment with transformation was only partly being satisfied. It became clear something was missing… Of all places, it was on the dancefloor of the famed nightclub in Ibiza - Space - that I rediscovered what I had forgotten in my twenties: my youthful sense of emotion, creativity and wonderment. Moving to the music, sensing my body, eyes locked on the DJs, something clicked inside… I saw the potential for creating transformational experiences for people in a new way: this time, through music. There and then, I decided to become a music producer and DJ. Later I co-founded the award-winning record label Chapter 24 Records. For a while this felt perfectly aligned. I was spending half my time leading teams and reorganising NHS health and care services for children and adults, and the other half playing gigs and making music. Both very different forms of group facilitation. What could be better? Over time, though, the two parts of my life began to feel simply far too separate. I felt a deep pull to bring all of my experience - and all of me - to the transformation I was creating. Life soon brought the answer I was asking for. Alongside the chaos of a pandemic, I made a discovery. The world of Somatics. A way of uniting head and heart. Now, as an ICF PCC coach, facilitator, supervisor and Head of Training I finally bring together everything I’ve learned from leading transformation with individuals and groups. At last, I am part of creating the magic I have wanted all along, in my clients’ lives and in my clients’ coaching practices.
