About Sam Thomson

A certified ISTQB & iSQI Test Engineer and accredited iSQI Agile Scrum Master, I am a highly motivated and hard-working individual who works well both on my own and as part of a team. I am a conscientious and dedicated test engineering professional. I have acquired and developed my test knowledge and experience from working across a variety of projects and programmes of work, mainly within the devolved Scottish Government Benefits & Grants initiatives. Most recently I have been working on the development and relaunch of a retail leisure and clothing website. In addition to capturing user functional requirements and producing the pre-requisite test artefacts, I have full en-to-end testing experience (including UAT and Release Testing). I am used to working closely with developers, end-users and other key business stakeholders to ensure that systems and solution design meet the required business and technical outcomes. I am also used to supporting management of test defects through full lifecycle root cause analysis and resolution. I have a pragmatic, consultative and collaborative approach to all aspects of my work. I am also currently working towards achieving iSTQB Certified Test Automation Engineer – Advanced Level. KEY SKILLS / EXPERIENCE: Strong understanding and appreciation of conventional testing principles, approaches and techniques, including: • Release Testing – Define and document release test plans and test scripts for various products and user groups and identify and define the underlying test data requirements. Supporting the testing process including reporting, iteration management, risk and issue management through to formal sign-off. • Defect, Risk & Issue Management – Identification, analysis and reporting of test defects and the associated risks, issues, dependencies and constraints and assigning status and actions for remediation and resolution. • Tools – Tricentis qTest, Atlassian JIRA, Jenkins, Selenium, HP WinRunner, Microfocus LoadRunner, ServiceNow (SNow),XML, HTML, MS Excel. • Platforms & Environments – Social Product Management (SPM), AWS, Windows10 and IOS.
