Background
About Sam Wagner
As a Director of College Counseling with over 30 years of experience in secondary education and administration, I have a passion for helping students achieve their academic and personal goals. I have successfully overseen all facets of the college counseling program at The Willow School, including writing comprehensive letters of recommendation, increasing the profile and familiarity of Lusher in the college admissions community, arranging and coordinating visiting college representative calendar, planning topical programs and presentations for Lusher students and families, maintaining active correspondence with colleges, parents and students, and other counselors in the guidance field, and updating Willow's College Counseling Twitter feed and Facebook fan page to provide current, topical, and diverse points of discussion. I have also coordinated the Dual/Concurrent Enrollment program for qualified juniors and seniors at The Willow School, in collaboration with the Dean of School of Continuing Studies at Tulane University. This program allows students to enroll in actual college courses, free of charge, and earn full undergraduate college credit, recorded on a Tulane transcript. During most academic years, 60 seniors and 20 juniors participated in this program, gaining valuable exposure and experience in higher education. I have a strong background in curriculum design, professional development, educational technology, student development, and faculty evaluation, as well as international travel and service learning opportunities. I hold a MEd in Curriculum & Instruction and Administrative Leadership from the University of New Orleans, and a BA in English from Haverford College. I am skilled in tutoring, educational leadership, and staff development, and fluent in English and Edubabble.
