About Sam Zuckerman

I am a Policy Director in the Office of the Senate President for the Maine State Senate. My primary responsibilities are policy analysis and research in criminal justice & public safety; energy, utilities & technology; health & human services; health coverage, insurance & financial services; and transportation. I received my J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in May 2019 and relocated to Maine in December 2020. I am licensed to practice in Washington, D.C. During my time at law school, I worked in the Poverty, Tax, and Justice clinic and was part of a team that advocated amend a state tax law regarding suspension of driver’s licenses to add a poverty exemption. I also served as a Notes and Articles Editor for the Urban Law Journal and externed for the New York City Council in the Legislative Drafting Department. For my undergraduate education, I attended the University of Texas at Austin, where I earned a bachelor's degree in Theatre and Dance and a bachelor's degree in Art History. I also wrote an honors thesis on Nancy Holt and the Land Art Movement. I enjoy baking, hiking, skiing, and reading science fiction novels.
