About Samah Ali

Currently working as an Analyst with a focus on fact based policy making in the MENA region. Conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis, MEAL, and policy recommendations for UN agencies, INGOs, development organisations and government agencies. Interested in policy analysis and research in protracted conflict environments. Holding a Masters of Science degree in International Development with focus on Humanitarianism Aid and Conflict in Sub-Saharan Africa and MENA region. With a background in Economics and Politics and experience in fundraising and grant management, project management, M&E and research in INGOs in Sudan. Research area focuses on political transitioning countries and the humanitarian-development nexus within these contexts. Primarily focusing on the concept and role of civil society organizations in cultivating social change. Other focus areas include, political economy analysis of violence conflict and development, global health and development, partnerships for sustainable development. Highly passionate about the policies that underpin the aid strategy, interested in redefining what aid looks like in development, shifting from a centralised top down approach to a blended top-down bottom-up approach. Building capacity, resilience and localisation of responses to create sustainable development.
