About Samantha Gorlick

I graduated from Kean University in May of 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology with a Minor in Health Education. My career goals and passions include one day working in a hospital or medical setting assisting those with disabilities to adjust to their chronic conditions. I want to help people learn to live productive lives with medical challenges such as different types of ostomies, amputations, and autoimmune conditions. The ultimate goal is for me to provide patients with services/resources that can benefit them and aid them in living as normal of a life as possible. I am also very passionate about advocating for and helping people cope with eating disorders, specifically overeating and binge eating. I am leaning towards a career in Medical Social Work/Chronic Disease & Illness Care Coordination. I have a strong passion for helping people and making a difference in their lives, and I believe that I can do that within the healthcare field with my vast knowledge, personal experiences, and genuine empathetic nature. In the future I am planning to earn my Master's Degree in either Social Work (with a concentration in Healthcare) or a dual program in Social Work and Public Health. I am also passionate about advocating for people with visible and invisible disabilities (chronic illnesses). I am goal-oriented and consistently seeking new opportunities for growth, especially in the medical field. I recently got a job as a Chiropractic Assistant in August of 2022, which has been an amazing starting opportunity for me to gain healthcare experience before I go for my Master's Degree. This position has given me a great amount of experience in the medical field while obtaining patient care hours. I have worked with a variety of populations as a Chiropractic Assistant including pediatrics, adolescents, young and older adults, and geriatrics. I am interested in obtaining a position where I can work alongside a social worker in a medical setting to mentor me before going for my MSW. I am proficient in working with Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), Social Explorer, Workday, ADP Workforce Now, EHR Software such as Medisoft and Epic, Microsoft Office Programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Edge, Publisher, etc.), LibreOffice, Windows, Google Platforms (Drive, Docs, Forms, Reviews, Slides, Sheets, Sites, Photos, Calendar, Gmail, Chrome, etc.), Zoom, Skype, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Firefox, and Canva, Facebook, Facebook Messenger, LinkedIn, Indeed, Instagram, WhatsApp, YouTube, Snapchat, Pinterest, and TikTok.
