About Samantha Gortmaker

I could spend a lifetime geeking out about the connection between history and economics. The year leading up to my start of university consisted largely of the same elevator pitch about the undeniable and irresistible tie between these two studies and the powerful human motivators of incentive and love. How can you not become addicted to those trends? I am a Christ-follower, which thoroughly influences every part of my life. I pursue a life that has a high impact on culture and community. My first choice of career would be “Professional Student.” My ever-growing stack of bedside books can attest to such a desire. I have a passionate curiosity about humanity and a natural knack for teaching, traits that would suit me well in a research- and communication-based career. In classrooms, on campus, and throughout my community, I naturally lead, engaging the strengths of those with which I work. I enjoy interacting with incoming and prospective students, teaching and mentoring, and making music. To sum up, I am an ambitious, lifelong student who wants to learn and grow as a student of democratic government and of Christ.
