Background

About Samantha Koon

With five years of experience in fundraising and nonprofit sectors, I am a skilled and passionate professional who seeks to create and communicate impactful solutions for education inequity. My mission is to leverage my expertise in philanthropy and operations to advance the causes of social justice and innovation in education. I most recently served as the Data Analyst for IIE’s Philanthropy team. I worked on product development skills as they transitioned to a new CRM, while continuing to monitor data through quarterly metrics and KPIs. I also worked closely with fundraisers and philanthropy communications peers on audience creation for targeted outreach and solicitation. I have an entrepreneurial mindset and am always seeking opportunities to introduce new resources for our team and broaden my skillset. Previously, as a Development Associate at Partnership Schools, I managed multiple projects for donor cultivation and strategy, conducted research on prospective donors using various tools, and served as a Salesforce Administrator. Before my career in fundraising, I taught and advised four cohorts of diverse and low-income sixth grade scholars at Success Academy Charter Schools, where I was promoted to a Lead ELA teacher. I hold a MA in Education Theory and Policy and two BA degrees in English and Secondary English Education from Penn State University.
