About Sameh Shaaban
Dr Sameh Shaaban is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Power Engineering at the Mechanical Engineering Department (Mechatronics), College of Engineering and Technology, Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Cairo, Egypt. He was awarded his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hanover-Germany in 2004. Dr Sameh Shaaban has conducted many successful research projects in cooperation with worldwide famous automobile manufacturers in Germany like VolksWagen. He also successfully performed a project with the German society for international cooperation “GIZ” in the field of producing low voltage electricity using the human power “Alhadafa Project”. Due to his intensive work in the field of energy, Dr Sameh Shaaban was nominated for the international ENI award of renewable energy in 2013. Dr Sameh Shaaban has also conducted many consulting projects like the ventilation of classrooms of the Faculty of Engineering-Mataria-Helwan University and the laboratories of the Faculty of Science-Helwan University. Moreover he designed the air conditioning system of the theater of the College of Language and Communication, AAST-Cairo Branch. Dr Sameh Shaaban has high experience in the simulation and optimization of turbochargers, fans, pumps, rotary compressors, turbines, pipelines, renewable energy systems, power plants and two phase flow systems (e.g. filters and filtration) as well as the simulation and modeling of complex external and internal flows using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). He has published more than sixteen papers in international journals and conferences. One of his published papers was awarded the “best technical paper award” in the 8th International Conference on Turbochargers and Turbocharching, May 17-18, 2006, London, UK.
