About Sameillia McFarlane

I am Sameillia J. McFarlane, a Lincoln University of Pennsylvania graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Strategic Mass Communications. I was born on the tropical island of Jamaica, one of the world's most picturesque places. Most of my childhood was spent living in the countryside of Clarendon, Jamaica. Several extended family members from different parts of the parish raised me. Growing up, I saw how groups helped each other out of situations to better themselves and others' lives. During my junior year of college, I became interested in mass communications as my vision and goal for my future career became clearer. There is a goal that I am trying to achieve, and this is to create an organization that will provide resources for unaccompanied youths in my community and the surrounding communities. In particular, I am interested in public relations and media, with a special focus on politics and law. I had A fellowship opportunity over the summer with Dubin Research and Consulting, where I worked on a clemency case for an innocent man. As a result of my time there, I gained experience in various aspects of law and communications. The process required understanding how to communicate with followers and various government offices. While pursuing my degree in strategic mass communication, I also developed an interest in law during this fellowship. Public relations involves managing the information the public sees and hears, how things are structured to what you say and how you say it, to how you view things from different points of view. The fellowship, seeing, and being uplifted by different organizations inspired me. I intend to return the same, if not more, to those in need. I am a creator at heart. I will create a space for people to feel safe.
