About Sami K.

I work towards better cyber resilience in organizations and society. My core skills are being able to cross boundaries, be a trusted team member and deliver preferable results in complex scenarios. I passed the CISSP exam in 2023. I am a certified Security Auditor and help business units reach their best possible compliance posture on-prem and in the cloud. Typically this implies delving into technical security domains, all the while integrating GDPR, risk management and business continuity requirements to benefit the bigger picture throughtout the lifespan of systems. My most relevant experience is in the public sector. Prior to pivoting into cyber I worked for two decades in education, research and business development. The longest stretch was over a decade in international higher education doing applied research with global partners. This entails intercultural communication, project management and training in multi-stakeholder settings. A brief spell as a solopreneur taught the ins and outs of doing business, be it marketing, product design or risk management. I could apply my higher education experience as I conducted trainings in responsible leadership, sustainability and new digital platforms. As far as cyber goes, I am always learning. Be it software development security, IAM, cryptography, network security, security operations, risk management or any domain, no day goes by without learning something new. It probably goes without saying that a considerable amount of dedication goes to keeping up with the advancements in AI, quantum and the cloud. Every day in the evolving field is different. We need different people and paradigms to succeed, which was also the topic of my talk in Disobey 2024. The vibrant hacker and infosec community helps to keep the passion alive.
