About Sami Leonardo

As an accomplished communications professional with a rich background in healthcare, public policy, and advocacy, I have nearly a decade of experience in shaping narratives and driving strategic initiatives for leading biopharmaceutical clients, trade organizations, and government entities. My career has been dedicated to developing and executing impactful communication strategies, from product and pipeline communications to patient advocacy to shaping the national conversation around key healthcare issues (e.g, single-payer healthcare systems, drug pricing, social services, etc.) Currently, I serve as an Account Director at Real Chemistry, where I manage multimillion-dollar budgets, coordinate third-party vendors and execute campaigns that span across oncology, rare disease and pipeline assets. In my role, I oversee the strategy to execution. My passion for storytelling and disease education has also led to the successful launch of several initiatives aimed at improving health outcomes. My previous roles include leading media relations and strategic communications for the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where I played a key role in the federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic. I also have extensive experience in policy research and communications from my experience at the Republican National Committee, where I developed comprehensive policy briefings and messaging docs that influenced the political landscape during the 2017 - 2019 cycle. I have a Master of Public Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, with a specialization in Epidemiology, and I'm committed to leveraging data-driven insights and strategic communication to drive meaningful impact.
