About Sami Trane

A former piano teacher once told me I couldn't play a piece in competition because it was "too difficult" for me. I practiced for an hour on that piece alone, every day for months. I mastered that piece and placed second in competition. My name is Sami and I love overcoming tasks or challenges that are dubbed "too difficult". I am motivated and determined to accomplish things that seem out of reach. I am a goal oriented person who loves to shoot for the stars. I love working with others and bringing people together. The most meaningful experiences my undergraduate degree provided me were school travels to the Philippines and India. These experiences opened my eyes to a perspective of cherishing the beauty in diversity. It taught me how to work and empathize with other people, and be humble and grateful in my circumstances, encouraging thoughts and ideas different from my own.
