About Samira Hosseini

After establishing a fortified foundation in Physics during my bachelor studies I decided to pursue my subsequent education in Geophysics. I earned my master’s degree in Geophysics from the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS), Zanjan, Iran, in February 2009 with a thesis performed under the supervision of Dr. Ayoub Kaviani. During my master’s degree program in Geophysics, I found myself very enthusiastic and capable in many fields of research in theoretical and observational seismology. While working on my course projects and my thesis, I cultivated an interest in computer programming. As a result, I have acquired extensive programming skills, especially in FORTRAN. I mostly use Linux operating system because it provides me with the facilities needed for computations in geophysics and for handling large databases used in seismology. I also have expertise in Windows operating system and Microsoft office programs, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel. On the other hand, during the geophysics laboratory course, I learned how to use geomagnetic and geoelectric equipment and methods to explore mines and underground water reservoirs After my master studies I worked as a part-time physics teacher in Islamic Azad University and Malayer University for 8 years. I started my PhD on December 2017 at the University of Münster. During my studies I used Array seismology method to investigate the deviation of waves that travel through inner part of the earth (inner core) and find the role of heterogeneities in lower part of Mantle in these deviations. I learned about deep earth and improved my skills in using MATLAB and programming in Python. In this period of my study I also became acquainted with Seismichandler and learned how to deal with a large amount of data and process and analyze them. I started a new job besides my study in Nolte Geoservices company. I'm still learning how to use measuring equipment and process data with geophysical software.
