About Sammy Ferguson

Throughout my high school and college career, I have worked many different jobs which allowed me to gain a wide range of both experience and skills. While I attended Luther College, I worked at a daycare full-time during my summers off. I worked with at least ten children, varied in age, and developed games, crafts, and other activities that would stimulate them throughout the day. This position developed my creative skills and communication and problem-solving skills. As children work together, they can also tend to argue or disagree on certain decisions or strategies. It was my job to mediate these issues and develop a fair solution for both parties. I carried these skills with me during college, where I worked as a Peer Leader in the TRIO Achievement Program, a Writing Tutor at the Barry Writing Center, and a Library Aide at Decorah Public Library. All of these positions require personability, empathy, and understanding. These skills are the foundation of my strengths, and I have my past experiences to appreciate for developing these values.
