About Sammy Redd

I am a managing director at City Year, a national youth-serving education nonprofit. I support City Year sites nationwide in developing sustainable public partnerships that deliver consistent student and school-wide outcomes and promote collaborative learning and continuous improvement. With over 20 years of experience in higher education and youth development, I have a Doctor of Education degree in Leadership and Learning in Organizations from Vanderbilt University and a certificate in Non-Profit Management from Duke University. My core competencies include collaborating with cross-functional teams, designing and implementing comprehensive programs, project managing innovative curricula, and analyzing and interpreting data. Some of my recent achievements include leading the design and implementation of college/career readiness and work-based learning programs at The Possible Zone, serving as a School Board Member at Martinsville City Public Schools, and conceptualizing and building out the student services function at New College Institute. I am motivated by the mission of creating equitable and accessible opportunities for students and schools to thrive.
