About Samuel Dean

As a mathematician and data scientist, I have had the opportunity to develop my skills in various areas. I have experience in developing classification software for remote sensing and working with binary data. I have used different programming languages such as Python and Scala to test and analyse large volumes of data in the cloud. I have conducted research in machine vision problems and classification problems for forestry and asset management. Teaching has also been an important part of my career. As a Teaching Fellow at the University of Manchester, I have taught a variety of mathematics topics such as Linear Algebra, Real Analysis, and Probability. I have supervised projects, delivered lectures and tutorials, and organised summer revision sessions. I have led courses in Calculus and Linear Algebra. I was recently the Year 3 tutor. This role has developed my communication skills and my ability to convey complex concepts to non-experts. My interest in mathematics has also led me to publish papers and give conference talks. I hold a PhD in Pure Mathematics from the University of Manchester, where I also completed my MMath Mathematics degree with a First Class and won the IMA prize for Outstanding Performance in the final year. Overall, my combination of technical expertise and teaching experience has prepared me to tackle challenges in diverse fields. I am committed to continued learning and growth in all areas.
