About Samuel Gue

I am a mathematics PhD student at Swansea University, working at the interface of applied algebraic geometry and control theory. I graduated from the University of Warwick as a Master of Mathematics with First Class Honours. Throughout my academic career I have demonstrated technical agility, a keen commitment to learning, and an ability to produce innovative results in pure and applied mathematics. I have a proven track-record of strong interdisciplinary communication, effectively working within groups from a wide range of backgrounds. As part of my PhD, I am required to perform large calculations to produce simulations and visualisations. I am using my programming experience in Python and computer algebra software (Macaulay2) to automate these computationally expensive tasks. I have been able to apply my theoretical results to real world mathematical models. I recently honed my public speaking skills when I presented my research to a group of experts in the field of algebraic geometry at the Max Planck Institute in Leipzig. I effectively described the aims and the results, and received complimentary feedback on my communication and enthusiasm.
