KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! A motto Sam has been using since he became a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Certified Auditor in 2004. It became apparent to him that the motor carriers who fared best through an audit were very familiar with the Federal Regulations, whereas motor carriers who were unfamiliar suffered terrible consequences. In reality, it is APPLIED KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. Sam dedicated the remainder of his career as an Arizona State Trooper to educating officers, motor carriers, drivers, and the public about transportation safety and the compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. In 2013, Sam founded Academic Carrier Education Services, LLC, a transportation safety and DOT compliance consulting firm. As a consultant and educator, he has: • Designed safety programs for companies and motor carriers focusing on federal regulatory compliance, • Increased companies’ productivity and decreased expenses through operational streamlining and consolidation, • Conducted Risk Assessments and Gap Analysis for companies, then developed and implemented programs to reduce risk and achieve future goals, • Developed and implemented training programs for driver safety, regulatory understanding, and management development, • Participated with senior leadership of companies to identify future goals and formulate clear paths to success • Lead global engineering teams through product development and improvement processes • Conducted internal audits for safety improvement and DOT & OSHA regulatory compliance • Directed companies through customer service improvement and customer retention program development • Developed and implemented national managerial training and mentorship program • Saved companies significant money • Served as an expert witness in transportation safety and USDOT regulatory matters Sam has written several curricula and teaches the Federal Regulations on a regular basis to motor carrier employees, managers, and drivers. Other services include pre-audit preparations, post-audit corrections, mock audits, risk assessments, compliance assessments, and key-note speaker. Sam brings simplicity and understanding to the Federal Regulations through dynamic and engaging methods. Sam is now the Transportation Safety & DOT Manager at The Truesdell Corporation in Tempe, Arizona. He enjoys hiking, music – being an active member of the band in his church – and spending time with his lovely bride. His favorite drink is coffee and his favorite food group is (you guessed it) donuts!
