Growing up on a small farm in south Texas. My father encouraged me to be involved in the industry to make it better by putting all my abilities with my time, presence. And I am glad to say the farming industry has been good to me. I am the proud father of two sons who have chosen to continue on the farm after completing degrees in business. I have had the on of serving on many farm organization Boards and service organizations stated farming with my wife Susan in 1980.served on Rangerville Coop Bod in 1983-2006 Delta Compress 1986 -1996 Texas Bank of Cooperatives Nation Cotton council delegate as a Producer Warehouse delegate, Coop Delegate Committee’s for the Advancement of Cotton Gulf Compress Lower Rio Valley Cotton and Grain Producers Harlingen Cotton Committee Valley Algodón Club Cameron County Irrigation District # 2 Texas Cotton Producers Texas Boll Weevil Eradication Program And a few other as well. I had many opportunities to work with wise and gifted friends and travel across the country and heard inspiring speakers. One such was Jerry Clowers who speech was “ You Dance with the one who “broung” you.” Agreeing with the word my father told my brother and I many years ago. Working to improve the industry we were involved with by growth, adapting new ideas, becoming more efficient, investing in the companies that we work with to improve productivity and quality for our products and personal. Trying to encourage excellence in the workplace and home. As I heard Texas Extension Agent, Dr Charles Stickler one day say. “The best thing I could put on my fields was my shadow.” Those words are as true today as they were forty years ago. I continue to see new ideas and problems, and enthusiastic people working on solutions for Agricutural. Making the Best Better, I am proud to have had a tiny part in it. Farm life has had its ups and downs but I would not trade it for gold
