About Samuel Sutton

Sam is a recognised mental health professional based in Adelaide, situated on the traditional lands of the Kaurna people. Specialising in trauma-informed practices & behavioural studies, his experience merges clinical practices & lived experience frameworks, earning him recognition from the Mental Health Coalition SA (2022) for his excellent contributions to the lived-experience workforce. In addition to his formal education in mental health & social science, he has undergone intensive training in Focused Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (FACT), drug & alcohol support & Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). This advanced training further enriches his therapeutic approach, resulting in open & honest connections & appropriate rehabilitation for those under his care. From 2021-2023, Sam demonstrated his talents as a Peer Support Worker at the Urgent Mental Health Care Centre & as a Community Rehabilitation Worker at Mission Australia. He provided personalised support in these roles, developed therapeutic group interventions, & collaborated closely with emergency services & healthcare providers. Further displaying his commitment, he created & delivered behavioural management classes while at SA Health's James Nash House. Here, he also delivered one-on-one counselling & coordinated forensic outreach programs for vulnerable members of our community, particularly those impacted by heavy substance misuse & our criminal justice system. Sam's commitment to holistic & person-centred care shines brightly in his work. His ability to form authentic connections, coupled with his passion for making a genuine difference in the lives he serves, solidifies his position as a key contributor to Adelaide's mental health landscape.
