About Samuel Whatling

As a Lead Engineer at Airbus, I am responsible for delivering and developing a novel wing technology within the Wing of Tomorrow (WoT) programme. This programme aims to create more efficient and sustainable aircraft wings that can reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions. I lead a multi-skilled engineering team that adheres to technical readiness level milestones and ground based demonstrator reviews, ensuring the quality and feasibility of the design solutions. I also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, such as customers, suppliers, and research partners, to integrate their feedback and requirements into the wing technology. I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering Competence and a Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace Engineering from the University of the West of England. I am a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society. My core competencies include technical and functional leadership, mechanical system design and integration, structural design and evaluation, and stakeholder management. I have applied my expertise and skills to various projects and tasks, such as designing and testing wing structures, conducting technical integration and risk assessments, and supporting innovation and improvement initiatives. I am passionate about advancing the aerospace industry and creating positive environmental and social impacts through my work.
