My journey into the world of Hair and Makeup is a tale of passion, creativity, and a little bit of mischief. It all began when I was just a young girl, sneaking into my mother's room to explore the treasures within her makeup kit. From swiping her lipsticks to experimenting with beetroot blush, I was on a quest to unlock the secrets of beauty. But life had other plans for me, and I found myself working in the financial world for a while. The allure of numbers and balance sheets held me captive, but deep down, my heart yearned for the world of colors, brushes, and transformations. One day, I made a bold decision – I decided to leave the world of banking behind and follow my true calling in Makeup. It was the mid-2009 when I embarked on this new path, armed with my passion and a burning desire to excel. Fast forward to today, and I've become a recognized name in the industry, known for my expertise and creativity. I have worked with legendary fashion brands like Sabyasachi, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Cartier, Mango, and more. Magazines like Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Grazia, GQ, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, and more have featured my work. I've lent my artistic touch to countless print campaigns, brought characters to life in television commercials, and collaborated with some of the biggest names in Bollywood like Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma, Kangana Ranaut, Jacqueline Fernandes, and Aditi Rao Hydari, among others. I'm proud to have been the creative force behind some of Deepika Padukone's most iconic looks at prestigious events like the Cannes Film Festival, Academy Awards, and the Met Gala. In recognition of my dedication and artistry, the industry honored me with the prestigious titles of Vogue Makeup Artist of the Year in 2018 and Elle Artist of the Year in 2016. Yet, my journey is far from over. I am continually seeking new and exciting projects to challenge my skills and push the boundaries of creativity. I host Beauty 101 workshops to help everyday people feel more empowered in their skin. I help them navigate through a rather overwhelming world of make-up. Under the banner of WorkshopsxSandhyaShekar, we host professional certifications for expert artists Also, I'm my own launching a beauty and wellness brand. More on that soon! As I look back on my incredible journey, one thing is for certain – my mother still has no idea where all her makeup disappeared over the years!
