About Sandra Campeanu

I am invested in a career that helps make quality education accessible to everyone. I am currently a tenured Lecturer at CUNY, in the Dept of Psychology at Lehman College. I completed a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Toronto. I conducted my research at the Rotman Research Institute at the Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care. My thesis work investigated the role of voice as a memory cue - in different situations and for multiple types of memory - and the neural correlates that underlie it. The time course and brain regions involved were assessed primarily using electroencephalogram recordings and event-related potential analysis. Studying the brain, and gaining insight into this most complex human organ using neuroimaging modalities, is paramount to understanding human behaviour. This type of research - investigation of learning and memory - is crucial to developing effective strategies and methods in education. I believe new and innovative strategies are essential to optimizing key educational outcomes such as critical thinking skills and thoughtful expression. To that end, I am building a career that explores and furthers development of these outcomes through quality education.
