About Sandra Clark

As an artist: My work reflects my interest in what happens when our inherent needs for organization and control collide with physiological forces that are out of our control, such as optical and emotional responses to stimuli. When creating art I explore how I can guide those responses in the viewer to create an exciting ride, an opportunity to escape or a place or contemplation. I see my art as an interlacement of math, science, history, and psychology. I push my media, combining the fiber techniques of weave, dye and stitch to create works that continue to test the boundaries of actual and illusionary space to provide viewers a unique, visual experience that keeps them captivated and excites their senses. While many works are completed in a variety of fibers, I also use non-traditional materials such as metal, for my techniques strengthening the visual and conceptual dichotomies within the work. As a Small Business Owner & Nail Artist I strive to create every day. With my business "Dyer's Playground" I use a variety of dye methods to create fun and unique clothing items. This is truly play time for me. As I unwrap each item after the dye process, I feel more excited than if it were Christmas. The Queen's Claws is my nail salon. This business is more fun than I ever could have imagined. I get to create something fabulous in an hour and at the same time develop relationships with my clients while bringing some sparkle into their lives.
