Background

About Sandra Cordon

I am an independent communications professional living in Rome, providing writing, editing and outreach strategizing services to clients including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Global Landscape Forum (GLF). I was previously employed on a contract in external communications with the UN's World Food Programme and before that, as a contributing journalist with Italy's premier news agency, ANSA, on the English desk. Prior to my relocation to Italy, I spent four years as a speechwriter for the Governor and Deputy Governors of the Bank of Canada in Ottawa. This work sharpened a talent for careful research and a quick grasp of complex economic and financial concepts. It also enhanced my skills at explaining these complex subjects with precision, to a variety of audiences. Experience as a Strategic Communications Advisor at Foreign Affairs and International Trade; and at Health Canada added depth to my understanding of federal government operations and communications strategy. A disciplined self-starter, my ability to think strategically and adapt readily to changing circumstances are attributes developed during my long and broad history as a reporter. Crisp, clear, and creative writing have been hallmarks of my work throughout my career. Specialties: Economics, trade, foreign affairs.
