My years in the hospitality industry have taken me around the world & throughout Alaska, giving me a strong foundation. I worked at resorts and ground operations in Alaska which allowed me to work directly with guests. I also traveled the world for 7 years while working onboard Princess Cruises ships in the purser's department (customer service / hotel department). When I left sea, I became a general manager at Denny's as I wanted to explore the food & beverage side of my degree. All of the restaurants that I managed also had full lounges. I was able to achieve all financial, customer service, training, staffing, and recruiting goals. All of the restaurants are inspected at least once a year by an internal auditor. One restaurant that I managed had failed all inspections for several years. I was tasked with turning it around, which I did. The first internal inspection earned a 90%. All subsequent inspections earned a 90% or higher. I returned to Princess Cruises and led two teams that provided ground-handling & port agency. The teams provided amazing service to all. We were able to capture transportation details and maintain meaningful data which resulted in more efficient use of buses and reduced the transportation costs by 40%. My goal has always been to provide the best service to all guests. Prior to 2009, in Seattle, the cruise terminal was too small for the number of guests, many guests had to stand in long lines, outside. I piloted a program which provided check-in services to guests at the airport in 2007. The program allowed us to dissipate crowds and provide better service to the guests.
