About Sandra Deline

I graduated from the University of Michigan in Elementary Education. I remember well the day when job recruiters came to the University. The first recruiter I met was from Arlington, VA. So, that was where I started and ended that day being accepted by my first recruiter. The recruiter invited me to come to Arlington during spring break. I went through the interview and was hired as a first grade teacher at Tuckahoe Elementary School. That was the first time I realized that graduating from the University of Michigan carried some weight. Unbeknown to me before the interview was that Arlington County public schools was the top school system in the United States at that time. My second year at the school I was chosen to attend an educational convention in Boston because of the success I had shown for teaching a phonetically based reading program. GO BLUE! After the birth of my two sons, I became a stay at home mom. During this time, most all women were staying at home. I did do some substitute teaching in the Ann Arbor Public Schools. I went back to the University of Michigan and received a MA degree in Applied Linguistics. Taught English as a Second Language and Accent Reduction to foreign University of Michigan students and foreign business men.
