From personal leadership deficit to a thriving self-leader in our organisations and society. We’re living in the age of personal leadership deficit and it shows - that we lead ourselves far less than we let and expect others to lead us. As a result, organisational culture remains negative and the environment toxic; employees are disengaged, burnt out, unmotivated, and unfulfilled. Managers and leaders are strained due to people not taking enough leadership, ineffective decision-making, employees leaving, and reduced innovation. This is a massive cost. Leadership must upgrade significantly and expand beyond established leadership approaches that tend to overshadow self-leadership. It’s imperative for people to remember that every one of us is a leader in our career path and job role, a leader of our wellbeing, even self-care, and a leader of our own lives. Self-leadership is and will be influencing the current and future of work. And so, organisations must enable their people to update or learn self-leadership skills and grasp personal leadership opportunities at all levels, both in and out of the work environment, without the fear that it would jeopardise collective objectives, if - we want our key business asset - PEOPLE - to be well and energised, engaged and productive, feel valued, and be valuable- we want to witness our people feel confident when facing work, life, and wellbeing challenges, uncertainties, and trials and tribulations - we want our organisation and our people to thrive and keep innovating.
