Sandra is a Project Coordinator at the Trade & Industrial Policy Strategies (TIPS): Just Transition Labour Centre. TIPS is a not-for-profit economic policy research organisation based in Pretoria, South Africa. As a PC, Sandra is responsible for overseeing and managing projects aimed at supporting workers and communities as they transition toward a greener, more sustainable economy Key responsibilities might include- Project Management: Overseeing the planning, implementation, and monitoring of projects related to a just transition. This could involve working with policymakers to ensure that workers' rights and opportunities are prioritized- Research and Analysis: Conducting research on best practices for a just transition and analyzing how different regions, industries, and sectors are impacted by the green shift. This could also involve tracking how policies are affecting workers' livelihoods and advocating for adjustments where necessary- Resource and Budget Management: Ensuring that projects are adequately funded and that resources are allocated efficiently. This may involve working with funding bodies or securing grants to support specific initiatives- Education and Training: Developing or supporting programs that educate workers about the green economy, new job opportunities, and skills development to ensure they can transition into sustainable industries- Monitoring and Reporting: Tracking the progress of the transition and reporting on key milestones to stakeholders, including the impact on workers and communities.
