About Sandra Lesh

Teaching graphic design and visual communications is a dream come true for me. While I enjoyed my time as a practitioner in the design industry, I have always been most interested in sharing my knowledge and experience with students who are seeking careers in this exciting field. I am passionate about teaching because I have a lifelong love of learning myself. Whether it’s attending seminars about graphic design or education, taking online tutorials on new software, or attending professional development webinars, I feel that I am always in “learning mode.” This natural interest in education allows me to approach the classes I teach with enthusiasm and excitement, which quickly filters down to my students. I encourage the sharing of ideas, observations, and experiences in my classrooms, which not only aids in the learning process but also helps foster a sense of community among students. It’s also important to keep the discussion focused, and I don’t tolerate unprofessional language or behavior. I want students to know that my number one priority is to foster a strong learning environment so that they are able to leave my classes with new knowledge that will help them to be successful in their chosen careers. I believe that my positive and enthusiastic approach to teaching has helped many of my former students to make important decisions about their future careers and the direction of their education. Hardly a term goes by without a student emailing me to thank me for a positive learning experience or to share their excitement at accepting their first job after graduation. The satisfaction I receive from these emails makes me realize why I love to teach and motivates me to continue in this profession which I feel fortunate to be a part of.
