Starbucks originally hired me in an admin role, and my then boss (Dominique Boivin) recommended that I seriously consider a career in real estate because of my "natural aptitude for negotiating." During my transition into real estate, Dom became my mentor. He functioned as my cheerleader and accountability partner, all the while inspiring me to take extra real estate courses. While still working as an Admin Assistant, he supported me practically every step of the way while I transacted deals. I will forever be indebted to him because he helped me to broaden and sharpen my negotiation talents. By employing a sheer-hard-work mentality, learning from some of the best real estate icons in the industry, and raising my own personal bar to levels I hadn't originally thought possible, I earned two management-level promotions in just two years. It was a genuine privilege to work at Starbucks; however, I wanted to learn even more. That's when I made the move to A&W, where I perfected my knowledge of franchisee interaction, ground-up construction, and real estate financing while identifying the right offers to lease, growing the network footprint in Ontario, and elevating A&W's net worth. I was promoted to Director and was also able to grow my skills in the areas of strategy and leadership through mentoring and education, and this set me up well for the next stage of my career journey. My move to Shelby's Legendary Shawarma has allowed me take on a much bigger role, with national and international scope for expansion. The entrepreneurial nature of this organization and plans for rapid expansion into a variety of markets gives me the opportunity to apply all of the learning I've gained from 20+ years in this business, and make my mark with a brand that is truly unique.
