About Sandra Ramirez

I am a feminist human rights lawyer with an anticolonial approach, holding an LL.M. in International and Comparative Law from The George Washington University Law School and advanced studies in human rights law from the Faculty of Law at the University of Oxford. Since August 2023, I have been working as Advocacy Advisor for Latin America and the Caribbean at Equality Now, where I focus on advancing gender justice with a particular emphasis on adolescents and violence in the region. My work is rooted in international human rights law, policy advocacy, and strategic research, and guided by a commitment to dismantling systemic inequalities. I have led initiatives addressing sexual violence, harmful practices, and technology-facilitated gender-based violence, always centering the leadership and voices of women, girls, and communities driving change. Before Equality Now, I worked with UNICEF Colombia on strengthening mechanisms to prevent sexual exploitation and abuse, and I have engaged with civil society, regional bodies, and UN agencies to promote inclusive, rights-based solutions. I believe in a feminist ethic of care and collective action, and I am dedicated to building strategies that bridge global human rights standards with lived realities across Latin America and the Caribbean.
