About Sandra Shapiro

This year has been an incredible journey of discovery, connection and meaning. My four-part project "Musical Roots-An Exploration of Cultural Heritage and Musical Influences", was launched with great success and joy! This season was the debut of Part I:"In My Father's Footsteps-A Daughter's Search for Answers", which explored my Russian side by portraying the extraordinary journey of my father from Soviet Russia to the United States, via music chosen to highlight various aspects of this journey. Discovering the details of his life and hearing stories about him from strangers and long-lost relatives that reached out to me, made me proud to be the daughter of the man I called my "Abba"(Hebrew for father). The upcoming 2018-2019 season will continue with Part I in the Fall due to the high number of requests and interest in this story and program. Spring of 2019 will see the debut of Part II:"Songs My Safta Sang To Me"-which will explore my Israeli heritage.
