About Sandra Silverstein

In my retirement, I have become active in arts production. With my co-chair, David Berke, I am the lay leader in charge of the Performing Arts Series of the Center for Jewish Culture of the Lawrence Family JCC. Our program includes the production of staged readings (with a professional director and cast), programming music, comedy, and dance events. We also hold a competition for a juried event of five minute plays. I also serve as a member of the film selection committee and community partners chair where I reach out to other organizations in the whole of the San Diego community for The San Diego Jewish Film Festival. I serve on the steering committee of the San Diego Jewish Book Fair. I am a member of the film selection committee for the San Diego Italian Film Festival and vice chair of its board. I consider myself to be incredibly fortunate to live in a community that is so rich in the arts-especially theater and attend events at the Globe Theater, La Jolla Playhouse, Cygnet Theater, and other venues such as the San Diego Rep, North Coast Rep, Ion, and Moxie theaters.
