About Sandra van Dijk

It is my wish to turn my passion for nature and environment into a career. I want to fully commit myself to a recovering, healthier and more flourishing earth thriving in all her beautiful and complex diversity. I see a mission to create awareness among everyone. People should be provided with accurate, relevant, complete and actual knowledge to be able to make the right choices and to adjust their convictions and values and act out the right behavior. Hence I decided to switch careers and get professionally involved in the environmental and/or sustainable field. My ambition is to work as a specialist such as an ecologist, researcher, advisor or policy maker related to nature and environment and/or sustainability. In order to achieve this I am currently studying Environmental- Nature Sciences at the Open University. I combine my study with my current job at Waterschap Vechtstromen as an employee project control. However, to develop certain skills and put theory from my study into practice I wish to work in a job closer related to my study. This enables me to gain experience and knowledge. Specifically in the following: recognizing/catagorizing sorts of flora and fauna; research; fieldwork; regulation/permits/subsidies currently in force; the several interests/stakeholders involved and how to deal with them; how to advise; how to convince etc. I’m open to participate in a traineeship or start in a junior position or supporting position. It is very important to me to make a contribution to society, and to be of value to the community. And since I am most passionate about nature and environment, I believe I will be most motivated when I can work for an organization that focusses on these fields and shares my values, concerns and goals.
