About Sandra Wise

Experienced Assistant Professor with a demonstrated history of working in higher education. Strong professional with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) focused in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from University of Maine. My research experience includes environmental and genetic toxicology, DNA damage and its repair, chromosome instability and cellular transformation. My technical skills include cell culture, microscopy, DNA damage and chromosomal analysis assays, as well as many traditional molecular biology techniques. I am skilled in scientific writing with over 70 publications as author or co-author. I have extensive experience in managing students and personnel as well as maintaining laboratory operations, including complex scientific grant budgets. My career path has allowed me to work in multiple settings, from industry to academia, and in the field as well as the bench. As such, I am highly adaptable, a team player and have developed strong administrative, communication and inter-personal skills. I am an active volunteer in professional societies and in multiple education, health and environments groups.
