About Sandro Carvalho

I'm passionate about eletronics and IoT devices, which lead me to the field of electronics engineering. Currently I hold a master's degree in Electrotechnical and Computer Engineering, complemented with the ISA industrial cybersecurity course (IC32 and IC33) and a complete internal training for systems engineers provided by CSW, such as basic training, safety critical training and secure development course. In addition to these certifications and trainings I have knowledge of IEC 62443 and TS 50701 standards giving me the right skills to work as a cyber security engineer. From November 2019 to August 2023, I worked as a software developer in a full software development life cycle methodology, allowing me to increase my knowledge in software development and in the railway field. My main functions were performed developing the on board software of the trains. As a software developer I wrote, implemented and tested code for safe and non-safe devices using the customers’ proprietary tools. Before November 2019, I worked in EMEF (Rolling Stock Maintenance Company), a main Portuguese company in the railway maintenance sector merged in 2020 by CP – Comboios de Portugal. I worked as a maintenance technician in the Metro do Porto fleet for 3 years, where my main activities involved repair electronics equipment and electrical circuits in traction converters, HVACs, auxiliary converters and mechanical repairs on bogies and couplers.
