About Sandro Longo

After the Scientific high school degree, I graduated in 1986 in Civil Hydraulic Engineering cum laude at the University of Bari (presently Polytechnic of Bari); in 1993 I achieved the title of PhD in Hydrodynamics in Florence, V cycle, consortium Padua, Genoa, Florence and Trento. Fellow at Wallingford in the Human Capital Mobility Programme, post-doctoral fellow at the University of Florence, fellow at the University of Bologna, researcher since 1998, associate professor since 2005, full professor since 2018 at the University of Parma. Academic Visitor in Granada, hosted by Miguel Losada; in Cambridge (CUED), hosted by Dongfang Liang. I have been Research Delegate of the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Parma, former Director of the Doctoral School and former Coordinator of the PhD programme in Civil Engineering and Architecture at the same Department. I am in charge of the Laboratory of Hydraulics and Hydraulic Constructions and member of the Laboratory of Rheology and Rheometry. My closest collaborators are Luca Chiapponi, Diana Petrolo, Fabio Addona. My group has been collaborating for more than 10 years with Miguel Losada (Emeritus at University of Granada), Marius Ungarish (Emeritus at Technion, Israel), Vittorio Di Federico, full professor at University of Bologna. Author or co-author of more than 80 publications on indexed journals, 5 monographs for McGraw-Hill and Springer, 2 of them in English. Inventor for a national patent and co-inventor in a patent application. Consultant in over 50 design activities, most of them in the maritime works sector.
